Trip Leader School

Denver Trip Leader School – the Spring Trip Leader School Session is FULL.

If there is enough interest, a summer class will be considered. Qualified members should apply to SALT (Support Aid for Leader Training). Once your application is approved you will be placed on a waiting list and notified when the next class is scheduled. Apply using the SALT application

Denver Trip Leader School, (DTLS), Saturday, April 9, 2016 from 8:00AM – 5:30PM —
8:00AM – 11:35AM – Class session, AMC, Baker Room
Noon – 5:30PM – Leader-In-Training, (LIT), field practical, Location TBD

The school provides a 3.5 hour lecture on topics such as CMC policies, legal and risk considerations, trip planning, group dynamics, situational awareness, the trip cycle, the CMC ambassador role and leadership.  The LIT field practical is a 4.5 hour session in the field where candidates will engage in role modeling, working through trip scenarios and discussions in order to gain a better understanding of what they can expect to encounter in the field and learn ways to manage a successful trip. DTLS will actively assist leader candidates in securing LIT’s.

Limit: 12 students, 6 students minimum.

There is No Fee for the Trip Leader School. Apply using the SALT application

Prerequisites: CMC member for a minimum of 1 year, 3 CMC trips, and current Wilderness First Aid (WFA) certification.
