The Avalanche Terrain Avoidance (ATA) Seminar is meant to teach casual winter hikers (such as snowshoers and cross country skiers) how to avoid avalanche terrain.
This course is the mandatory minimum for any CMC Denver leaders who wish to lead hikes during the winter season (November through April). CMC leaders who wish to lead activities in the backcountry should sign up for the AIARE I course. Additional information can be found here.
